There are well over 50 different places to eat out in the Keswick area, this is just a simple guide to some of them.

Nearest to us, in Braithwaite is the Middle Ruddings Inn, just over a mile away, 25mins walk. Good beers and good food in a friendly atmosphere. For those with coeliac or other food requirements the staff can accurately advise on suitable menu options, and change the way food is cooked/presented if required.
Reservations 017687 78436, advised during the week, essential at weekends.

A hundred yards further on in Braithwaite is the Royal Oak pub with traditional pub grub, and a gluten free menu if required.

In the other direction about 2 miles from us, just to the north of Bassenthwaite Lake, and part of the Lakes Distillery is the "Bistro at the Distillery".  Open for about 2 years and steadily gaining accolades, there are good menu choices using great local produce. The afternoon tea is a special treat! The staff and chefs are fully conversant with catering for gluten-free or other requirements.
Reservations essential for evenings, 017687 88852

In Keswick itself there are about 40 caf├ęs, pubs and restaurants.

Opened in 2014, The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas is a JDWetherspoon flagship pub-restaurant in Keswick where there are a large number of food and drink choices on the extensive menu. All dishes served there represent excellent value. For gluten-free options look for the purple menu!

If you like Thai food, the Star of Siam has a good menu at reasonable prices, or for Chinese the Silk Road in Museum Square is a good option (both of these also do takeaways).

One of our old favourite eating places is Morrels Restaurant on Lake Road. Booking is advisable, 017687 72666

For a treat, excellent steaks are served at The Brossen Steakhouse in the Inn on the Square, close to the Moot Hall in the Market Square.

Fish and Chips? Eat in or take-away, good quality and reasonable prices at The Kingfisher. They also serve gluten-free fish & chips!

That selection should get you started, but there are plenty of other options in the town, or further afield, such as the acclaimed Quince and Medlar vegetarian restaurant in Cockermouth (01900 823579).
